Author Guidelines

The aim of the Journal is to provide a medium for the publication of original papers covering the entire span of sociological thought and research. The editors are particularly keen to publish work on current developments in research and analysis. 

Authors should follow the guidelines set down below to ensure their submission is in the correct format for the submission process.


Guidelines for articles 

Manuscript: min 35000 – max 60000 characters, spaces included 

Layout page: sup: 2,5; inf: 2,5; int; 2,5; ext: 3; Ril.:0 

Title: Times New Roman 16, italic 

Author(s) name: Times New Roman 11, italic 

Author(s) name and affiliation: Times new roman 11 (Full name of authors: First name and Family name - Department, University, City, Country – telephone number – e-mail) 

Abstract: Times New Roman 10 (max 1500 characters, spaces included) 

Keywords: max 3 keywords 

Text: Times New Roman 11. The text is single-spaced; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); 

Headings of Paragraphs (level one): Times New Roman 11, bold 

Headings of Paragraphs (level two): Times New Roman 11, italic 

Text in Tables: Times New Roman 8. 

All illustrations, figures, images and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. It is strongly recommended to send also a separate file with figures and data necessary to create each figure

Bibliographical referencing in text 

The Journal uses the version of the author-date system for bibliographical references where the author and year of publication appear in the text and the full reference appears in a 'Bibliography' section at the end of the article. 

a. The form to be followed in the text is 

'of religious authority (Park, 1987: 159-60)' 

'for example, Castells (1993) ...' 

'a new view of Capitalism (Habermas, 1994; Watson, 1999; Davigo, 1999) 

in the case of two works being referred to in the article which are by the same author and published in the same year the reference should be as follows 'see, for example Smith (1990a)', and if both are to be included in the one reference: 'Smith (1990a, b)', or if published by same author in a different year: 'Smith (1990, 1994) 

for mention of first editions and translations within the text, authors should cite the edition to which they are referring followed by the original publication date placed in square brackets e.g. (Marx 1970[1844]: 333)

 

b. The form for the Bibliography section: (Times New Roman 10) entries should follow the following form 

for books:

please ensure that all entries in the text are referred to in the Bibliography 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Authors will be requested to send their contributions in English.
    [Authors who do not have native or equivalent proficiency in English are encouraged to have the manuscript read by someone with this proficiency prior to submission - Articles submitted for publication in ISR are subject to a double-blinded peer review system]
    The submission file format must be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect.

Manuscript style

Formats for the text and tables of your manuscript are: doc, docx, otf, rtf, txt. Any supplementary files should be in Microsoft Word,RTF or Excel Format. PDFs are not acceptable. Articles failing to conform to the editorial norms may not be considered for publication.

Authors who publish in this journal agree to the following points:
